SEN Teaching Assistant - Near Horsham, West Sussex

We are seeking a committed and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a well-regarded specialist school located near Horsham, West Sussex. This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people in a nurturing and structured setting, helping them grow both academically and personally.

 

Location: Near Horsham, West Sussex
Hours: Monday: 8:30am – 4:00pm Tuesday to Thursday: 8:30am – 4:15pm Friday: 8:30am – 3:45pm
Salary: £14.00 - £15.50 per hour
Contract: Long-term / Temp-to-Perm

Own transport is essential due to the school’s rural setting

 

The Role:

  • Support students with a range of complex mental health and additional needs, providing consistency and reassurance throughout the school day.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider school team to maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment.
  • Encourage and guide pupils in managing their emotions and engaging positively with their learning.
  • Assist learners across different key stages, helping them build confidence and achieve meaningful progress.

 

The school prides itself on its therapeutic and individualised approach, with small class sizes and a strong focus on tailored learning strategies to meet each student’s needs.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • A patient and empathetic individual with a genuine interest in supporting children with SEN
  • Previous experience in an SEN setting is beneficial but not required
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • A positive, adaptable, and proactive attitude
