Role Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, patient and committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil with additional needs. The role focuses on providing consistent, tailored support to help the pupil engage effectively in learning, build confidence, and develop emotional regulation and social skills.

You will work closely with teaching staff and the school’s SEND team to deliver personalised strategies, adapted learning tasks, and calm, nurturing encouragement throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualised 1:1 support to a Year 4 pupil across lessons, transitions and structured activities.

  • Implement personalised learning strategies and behaviour support plans under the guidance of the class teacher and SEND team.

  • Offer emotional support, helping the pupil with regulation, focus, and relationship-building.

  • Adapt resources and break down tasks to promote understanding and independence.

  • Encourage engagement, resilience and positive participation in classroom routines.

  • Observe and record progress, contributing to reviews and planning discussions.

  • Foster a reassuring, patient and nurturing presence that supports consistency and trust.

  • Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and positive behaviour in line with school policies.
