Wellbeing and Learning Practitioner – Residential Special School Location: Great Yarmouth Contract: Temp to Perm, Term Time + 1 week Hours: 32.5 hours per week (Monday 8.30am – 3.30pm, Tuesday 8.45am – 4.30pm, Wednesday to Friday 8.45am – 3.30pm) Salary: £14.40 - £16 dependant on experience Start: April/May 2026 About the Role We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Wellbeing and Learning Practitioner to join a residential special school for boys aged 7–16 with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. As a Wellbeing and Learning Practitioner, you will help pupils develop academic, social, and emotional skills, while providing care, guidance, and structured support throughout the school day. Key Responsibilities Provide individual and group support to pupils with SEMH needs. Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning plans and curriculum activities. Participate in school enrichment activities and residential care opportunities. Collaborate with staff, therapists, and external agencies to ensure consistent pupil support. Skills and Requirements Experience supporting children with SEMH, complex learning needs, or disrupted educational experiences. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification desirable Knowledge of strategies for promoting emotional wellbeing, resilience, and positive behaviour. Compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to working with children. Strong communication and teamwork skills to liaise effectively with staff, pupils, and parents. Willingness to undertake training and professional development as required. Ability to work with primary and secondary-aged pupils.
