We’re looking for a dedicated SEN Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join one of our welcoming partner schools near King’s Lynn, Norfolk. Location: King’s Lynn, Norfolk
Role: SEN Mental Health Teaching Assistant
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Pay: £13.80 – £15.00 per hour (including 12.07% holiday pay)
Contract: Temp to Perm

Start: April 2026 or asap

About the Role
As an SEN Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting children who may have struggled in mainstream education. Working closely with teachers and therapists, you’ll help create a nurturing, structured environment where students can build confidence, improve focus, and develop essential life skills.

This is more than just a classroom role; it’s about helping young people believe in themselves again.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and group support for students with SEMH or additional learning needs

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, offering consistency and calm reassurance

  • Assist in delivering creative, engaging lessons tailored to each student’s needs

  • Encourage independence and personal growth through positive reinforcement

  • Support emotional regulation and behaviour management using trauma-informed strategies

  • Collaborate with teachers and pastoral staff to ensure every child reaches their potential

Please note: The role involves active engagement such as participating in play, helping students with movement, and supporting in moments of escalation using approved physical intervention techniques (training provided).

What We’re Looking For

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths – Grade C/4 or above

  • Experience supporting children with SEND, SEMH, or behavioural needs.

  • A calm, empathetic approach and strong communication skills

  • Flexibility, resilience, and the ability to think on your feet

  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s education and well-being

  • Full right to work in the UK (we cannot offer visa sponsorship)
