Learning Support Assistant – SEN School (Term-Time Only)
Location: Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 15:30 (Term-Time Only)
Pay: £84.05 – £90 per day (inclusive of 12.07% holiday pay)
Contract: Temp to Perm
About the School:
This specialist setting caters to pupils aged 4–19 with a range of complex needs, including SLD and associated behavioural challenges. The school is committed to creating a structured, nurturing, and engaging environment that promotes academic, social, and emotional growth for all learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build consistent, trusting relationships with pupils, particularly those of secondary age
- Support the delivery of individualised lessons that promote engagement and skill-building
- Provide 1:1 and small group support, with a focus on behaviour regulation, sensory needs, and communication
- Use a calm and positive approach to support pupils with challenging behaviour
- Assist with personal care and mobility support where needed
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to ensure cohesive support
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and structured classroom environment
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SLD, ASD, or behaviours that challenge
- Confidence working with secondary-aged pupils
- A calm, resilient and proactive attitude
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A solid understanding of safeguarding, behaviour support, and inclusive education
- We welcome professional or personal experience – whether through work, volunteering, or supporting family
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)
- Reliable access to Welwyn Garden City
