About the Role
SEN Teaching Assistant – Alternative Provision (Autism, Communication & SEMH Support)
Full-Time | Term Time Only

A specialist Alternative Provision setting supporting pupils aged 5–16 is seeking a caring, resilient and motivated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. This school provides tailored education for children who may not be accessing mainstream learning, ensuring they receive personalised support that meets their emotional, social and academic needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about working with neurodiverse young people, particularly those with Autism, communication differences, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The environment is structured, nurturing and relationship‑focused, offering students stability and positive engagement throughout the school day.
About the Setting

An Alternative Provision academy supporting pupils who require an adapted, therapeutic approach to learning

Offers structured routines, emotional support and personalised learning pathways

Serves a mixed cohort of young people from Key Stage 1 through Key Stage 4 (ages 5–16) [

Strong emphasis on wellbeing, consistent boundaries and positive behaviour support

This is a rural location and you will need your own transport
The Role: SEN Teaching Assistant
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with Autism, communication needs and SEMH
-
Help deliver tailored learning activities under the guidance of teachers and pastoral leads
-
Support pupils with emotional regulation and engagement in learning
-
Build trust‑based relationships grounded in patience, empathy and consistency
-
Assist with behaviour support strategies and personalised plans
-
Encourage pupils’ independence, resilience and confidence
