About the Role
SEN Teaching Assistant – September Start – Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire
(Experience with ASD, PMLD, and SLD required)

This specialist school caters to both primary and secondary-aged pupils with a wide range of complex needs. With a strong emphasis on providing a structured, caring, and inclusive environment, the school supports each pupil to achieve their potential both academically and personally.
Position Details:
Location: Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire
Role: SEN Teaching Assistant
Start Date: September 2025
Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 15:30 (term-time only)
Pay: £84.05 – £90 per day (inclusive of 12.07% holiday pay)
Contract: Temp to Perm
Key Responsibilities:
- Build trusting and supportive relationships with pupils to help them feel safe and understood
- Assist with delivering engaging, personalised lessons tailored to a variety of learning needs
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with ASD, PMLD, and SLD, focusing on communication, sensory input, and emotional regulation
- Promote independence, confidence, and positive behaviour aligned with school values
- Support with personal care, physiotherapy, and additional medical or physical needs where required
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider school staff to deliver consistent support
- Help create a calm, inclusive, and well-organised learning environment
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience supporting children or young people with ASD, PMLD, or SLD in an education setting
- A compassionate, patient, and proactive approach
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- A sound understanding of safeguarding and inclusive practices
- An Enhanced Child and Adult DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Ability to travel to Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire
