SEN Support Assistant – Specialist School Setting

Are you passionate about supporting young people with additional needs? We are currently recruiting for a dedicated SEN Support Assistant to join a specialist education setting in Cranleigh. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a caring and supportive team that helps students develop confidence, independence, and emotional resilience.

Role Details

  • Location: Cranleigh, Surrey
  • Pay: £14.00 – £15.50 per hour
  • Contract Type: Long-term opportunity / temp - perm placement
  • Working Hours:
    • Monday: 8:30am – 4:00pm
    • Tuesday – Thursday: 8:30am – 4:15pm
    • Friday: 8:30am – 3:45pm

Please note: Due to the rural location of the school, applicants must have access to their own transport.

About the Position

In this rewarding role, you will provide day-to-day support for pupils with complex social, emotional, mental health, and additional learning needs. Working closely with teachers and support staff, you’ll help create a positive and structured learning environment where students can thrive.

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing tailored support to students both inside and outside the classroom
  • Encouraging positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning
  • Supporting students across different age groups and learning abilities
  • Building trusted relationships that promote confidence and wellbeing
  • Assisting the wider team in maintaining a safe and inclusive environment

The school offers a highly personalised and therapeutic approach to education, with small class sizes and a strong emphasis on individual progress and wellbeing.

 

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic about working with young people
  • Adaptable and able to remain calm in challenging situations
  • A strong communicator who works well within a team
  • Interested in supporting children with SEN and additional needs
  • Previous experience within an SEN or care setting is welcomed, although not essential.
