Inspire EHC is delighted to be working in partnership with a specialist SEMH school in Norwich, seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a nurturing educational setting where relationships, consistency and personalised support help pupils overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

This contract position is initially until December 2026, with the possibility of extending into a longer-term or permanent role for the right individual.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students both inside and outside the classroom. Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams and other professionals, you will help create a positive learning environment where pupils feel safe, supported and ready to engage in education.

Many of the young people you'll support have experienced challenges in their educational journey and require patient, consistent adults who can build trust, promote positive outcomes and encourage progress.

Key Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEMH needs to access learning and engage positively in school life.

• Assist with the delivery of personalised learning activities and intervention programmes.

• Build positive and professional relationships with students to promote confidence and self-esteem.

• Support emotional regulation and encourage positive behaviour strategies.

• Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to meet individual student needs.

• Monitor and record student progress and achievements.

• Help create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment.

• Promote independence, resilience and essential life skills.

• Follow safeguarding procedures and contribute to maintaining a secure environment for all pupils.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEN or behavioural needs.

• A calm, resilient and empathetic approach.

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

• The ability to remain positive and adaptable in a dynamic environment.

• A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners.

• Experience within education, youth work, care or support settings is highly desirable.

• Relevant qualifications in Education, Childcare, Health & Social Care or Support Work are beneficial but not essential.
