About the Role
Are you an inspiring, proactive, and passionate HLTA ready to make a real difference? My client, a well-regarded educational setting in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, is looking for a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in helping a student with special educational needs thrive both academically and personally.
As an HLTA, you’ll be at the heart of creating a positive, inclusive, and empowering learning experience. Working closely with teachers, support staff, and the student, you’ll help shape a nurturing environment where individual needs are understood, respected, and met with creativity and care.
HLTA Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality one‑to‑one support tailored to the student’s unique learning style and needs.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to design and implement personalised learning strategies that boost academic, social, and emotional development.
- Promote independence, confidence, and self-belief through positive reinforcement and thoughtful guidance.
- Support the student with daily routines, communication, organisation, and social interactions.
- Keep accurate records of progress, achievements, and concerns, ensuring clear communication with all relevant stakeholders.
- Engage in ongoing training and professional development to strengthen your expertise in SEN support.
- Be available to commute to Cambridge, Cambridgeshire on a full-time basis.
What We’re Looking For in a HLTA:
- Proven experience supporting children with special educational needs in a school environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem‑solving abilities.
- A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to meeting diverse needs.
- Confidence using assistive technology and educational tools.
- A strong commitment to inclusion, equality, and diversity.
- Relevant qualifications in education, SEN support, or a related field.
- Must be able to commute to Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
