The Role – Learning Support Assistant

As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them to access learning and develop essential life skills.

You will work closely with teaching and therapy teams to provide consistent, high-quality support tailored to each learner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with autism, SLD and complex needs in the classroom
  • Deliver personalised learning activities and interventions
  • Assist with communication strategies, including visual aids and sensory approaches
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement
  • Support students with personal care needs where required
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students and staff
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment

Requirements

  • Experience supporting individuals with SEN, autism, or complex needs (essential)
  • Background in education, care, or support work (desirable)
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Patience, resilience, and a proactive attitude
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Right to work in the UK
