1:1 SEN Support Assistant - Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire!

Position Details:

  • Location: Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.

  • Position: 1:1 Support Assistant

  • Hours: Monday-Friday 09:00-15:30

  • Salary: £80-£90/Day inclusive of 12.07% Holiday Pay

  • Contract: Temp to Perm

Key Responsibilities as a 1:1 Support Assistant:

  • Organise engaging learning resources and activities.

  • Adapt lessons to meet students’ needs.

  • Provide feedback and maintain accurate records.

  • Assist with personal care when required.

  • Supervise pupils during educational visits and breaks.

  • Promote independence, teamwork, and positive behaviour.

  • Use ICT tools to enhance learning.

  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and professionals.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting students with special educational needs is highly desirable.

  • A compassionate, patient, and understanding approach to working with children.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.

  • A commitment to safeguarding, equality, and promoting the welfare of young people.

  • A valid Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).

  • Must be able to commute to near Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.

Designated Safeguarding Lead Key Responsibilities: Safeguarding and Child Protection Act as the lead professional for all safeguarding and child protection matters, ensuring compliance with statutory guidance (e.g., Keeping Children Safe in Education). Be the primary point of contact for safeguarding concerns, liaising with social services, police, and the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO). Maintain accurate and confidential safeguarding records using CPOMs. Provide safeguarding training, guidance, and support to staff, embedding a culture of vigilance and accountability. Lead safeguarding audits and oversee safer recruitment practices. Staff and Student Debriefs Conduct and oversee debrief sessions after incidents, supporting emotional wellbeing.
