About the Role
KS3 SEN Teacher
Contract: Temporary to Permanent | Full Time
Specialist Secondary SEN Setting | Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk
An exceptional specialist secondary SEN school in Suffolk is seeking a dedicated and reflective KS3 SEN Teacher to join their team on a temporary to permanent basis.
This provision supports pupils whose primary needs are Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), often alongside ASC and associated communication or learning needs. The school offers a highly personalised curriculum within a trauma‑informed, nurturing, and relationship‑led environment, enabling pupils to re‑engage with learning and achieve their potential.
The Role
As a KS3 SEN Teacher, you will:

Deliver engaging, differentiated KS3 lessons aligned with the National Curriculum and personalised learning pathways

Teach pupils with EHCPs where SEMH is the primary need, adapting your approach to meet individual social, emotional, and academic requirements

Embed Trauma Perceptive Practice and relational teaching strategies into daily classroom practice
-
Create a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment that promotes emotional regulation and wellbeing

Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, pastoral staff, and external professionals
-
Monitor progress carefully and contribute to reviews, reports, and outcomes‑focused planning

About You
The successful candidate will have:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS)

Experience teaching within KS3, ideally in a specialist SEN or SEMH setting
-
A strong understanding of SEMH, ASC, and trauma‑informed practice
-
Confidence adapting teaching strategies to meet complex individual needs
-
A calm, patient, and resilient approach, with a strong commitment to inclusive education
