About the Role
🌟 SEN Learning Support Assistant – Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk
📍 Location: Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk
🕒 Hours: Monday – Friday, 8.45am – 3.15pm (with weekly training & team meetings)
📅 Contract: Term time only, 31.5 hours per week (part-time considered)
💰 Salary: £13.80 – £15.00 per hour (depending on experience)

We’re looking for enthusiastic, compassionate and resilient SEN Learning Support Assistants to join a fantastic partner school in Bury St Edmunds. You’ll be part of a supportive and dynamic team helping pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) reach their full potential.

🔹 What You’ll Be Doing

Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups to access learning.

Helping to deliver creative, tailored learning activities.

Encouraging independence and confidence through play and practical learning.

Using positive strategies to support behaviour and emotional wellbeing.

Working closely with teachers and therapists to deliver holistic support.

Taking part in training and school development opportunities.
🔹 What We’re Looking For
You might have worked in education, childcare, health & social care, youth work, or another people-focused role – if you have experience supporting children or young people with additional needs, we want to hear from you.
You’ll also bring:

A caring and proactive attitude.

Some experience of working with children or young people (SEN experience desirable but not essential).

GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.

Team spirit, patience, and good communication skills.

A willingness to learn and grow through training and CPD.
