Your Role as an SEN TA

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll provide tailored support to pupils either one-on-one or in small groups. Working closely with experienced teaching staff, you’ll assist in creating engaging, inclusive lessons that meet the unique needs of each learner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students with SLD and PMLD on a daily basis; providing both academic and emotional guidance

  • Assist with implementing personalised learning programmes developed by the teacher or SENCO

  • Use communication tools such as Makaton, PECS, and visual aids to enhance understanding and engagement

  • Foster independence and self-confidence in students through consistent encouragement

  • Collaborate with colleagues, therapists, and families to ensure holistic student progress

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience as a SEN TA; ideally with pupils with SLD or PMLD (desirable but not essential)

  • A calm, empathetic, and flexible approach to learning support

  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to follow direction while also taking initiative

  • A genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of children with additional needs

  • Right to work in the UK full-time (required)
