About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and trauma-informed SEN Teacher to provide bespoke 1:1 tuition for a 12‑year‑old learner in Year 8 who has an EHCP and requires tailored academic and emotional support. Tuition will take place in Cottenham, Cambridgeshire and may include sessions delivered in the home or an agreed community setting.

This learner is bright, sociable, and engaging, with a strong interest in role play, creativity, reading, animals, technology, and gymnastics. They benefit from predictable routines, low‑arousal environments, and supportive adults who can provide co‑regulation and help manage episodes of heightened emotion.

The learner experiences heightened anxiety, hypervigilance, and difficulties with emotional regulation and has a history of disrupted education, requiring a stable, relationship‑based approach.

SEN Teacher Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, personalised tuition aligned with the learner’s EHCP outcomes.
  • Build a trusting relationship and provide consistent emotional support.
  • Create a calm, structured, low-arousal learning environment.
  • Use creative, interest‑based approaches (e.g., drama, role play, technology) to increase engagement.
  • Support emotional regulation and resilience through co‑regulation strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with parents/carers and the commissioning team to review progress.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to ongoing assessments.
  • Commutable to Cottenham, Cambridgeshire

Ideal SEN Teacher

We welcome applications from teachers, specialist tutors, and professionals with experience in:

  • SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health)
  • Trauma-informed or attachment-aware practice
  • SEN & EHCP‑led provision
  • De-escalation and co‑regulation strategies
  • Creative or therapeutic-based approaches (e.g., drama, role play)
  • Commuting to Cottenham, Cambridgeshire

As an SEN Teacher you will be:

  • Patient, nurturing, and emotionally attuned
  • Skilled in building rapport with young people who have experienced instability
  • Reliable, reflective, and consistent in your approach
  • Confident planning flexible, interest‑led learning sessions
  • Commuting to Cottenham, Cambridgeshire

How to Apply
