Location: Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire
Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 15:30 (Term-Time Only)
Pay: £90 - £100 per day (inclusive of 12.07% holiday pay)
Contract: Temp to Perm

This specialist setting caters to pupils aged 4–19 with a range of complex needs, including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and associated behavioural challenges. The school is committed to creating a structured, nurturing, and engaging environment that promotes academic, social, and emotional growth for all learners.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Build consistent, trusting relationships with pupils, particularly those of secondary age
  • Support the delivery of individualised lessons that promote engagement and skill-building
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support, focusing on behaviour regulation, sensory needs, and communication
  • Use a calm and positive approach to support pupils with challenging behaviour
  • Assist with personal care and mobility support where needed
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to ensure cohesive support
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and structured classroom environment

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SLD, ASD, or behaviours that challenge
  • Confidence working with secondary-aged pupils
  • A calm, resilient and proactive attitude
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A solid understanding of safeguarding, behaviour support, and inclusive education
  • We welcome professional or personal experience – whether through work, volunteering, or supporting family
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)
  • Reliable access to Welwyn Garden City
