Hours: Flexible, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm | 38 weeks per year
Are you a passionate and flexible Teaching Assistant looking for bank work in a specialist SEN setting? Our partner school in Ipswich, Suffolk, is seeking motivated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join their friendly, hardworking team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people with special educational needs, including communication difficulties, physical disabilities, and profound and multiple learning difficulties. Many students are on the autistic spectrum.
About the Role
As a Bank SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support students on a one-to-one basis, in small groups, and in whole class settings. Your role will be varied and rewarding, helping pupils access their learning, develop confidence, and engage fully with school life. Flexibility, patience, and empathy are essential as you adapt to the needs of different students each day.
Key Responsibilities
Provide individual and small group support to students with SEN
Assist with classroom activities and whole class learning as required
Support communication, social, and behavioural development
Work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure consistent, personalised care
Monitor and report on student progress to aid planning and assessment
Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
Requirements
Experience working with children with SEN, including SEMH, communication, or learning difficulties
Patience, resilience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Flexible approach to working in a variety of educational settings
Commitment to supporting the development and wellbeing of children

Learning Support Assistant
Are you looking for a fulfilling role where you can make a genuine difference to young people’s lives? We are recruiting a dedicated and empathetic Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming SEN school near Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.
You’ll be supporting students aged 4–18 with a range of additional needs including autism, PDA, ADHD, OCD and associated complex learning or behavioural difficulties.
Location: Near Borehamwood, Hertfordshire
Contract: Full-time, Term-Time Only| Temp to Perm
Start Date: November 2025
Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00–16:00 (term-time only)
Pay: £84.05 – £90 per day (inclusive of holiday pay)
Learning Support Assistant Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one and small group support in and out of the classroom
Assist pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and daily routines
Follow behaviour support plans and use de-escalation strategies
Support learning activities and adapt resources to suit individual needs
Help pupils build confidence and independence in a structured, nurturing setting
Provide personal care support where required
Work closely with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff to ensure consistent support
Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and wellbeing
What We’re Looking For
A caring, patient, and adaptable approach
Some experience supporting children or young people with SEND (personal or professional)
A good understanding of autism, child development and safeguarding practices
Strong communication and teamwork skills
GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above, or equivalent)
Ability to reliably travel to the rural location near Borehamwood, Hertfordshire
