About the Role

Unqualified SEN Teaching Assistant – Borehamwood, Hertfordshire

Are you an Unqualified SEN Teaching Assistant looking to make a real impact in a Special Educational Needs (SEN) School? We have an exciting opportunity for you to support pupils with Autism and Complex Needs near Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.

Position Details:

  • Location: Near Borehamwood, Hertfordshire
  • Title: Unqualified SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Hours: 09:00 – 16:00, Monday – Friday (Term-Time Only)
  • Salary: £80-£90/Day (inclusive of 12.07% holiday pay)
  • Contract: Temp to Perm

Key Responsibilities as an Unqualified SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide tailored support to students with autism and other complex needs to help them reach their full potential.
  • Assist in implementing Personalised Learning Outcomes (PLOs), behaviour support profiles, risk assessments, and communication plans.
  • Use non-confrontational and non-directive methods to assist students.
  • Help students access the curriculum by adapting materials to meet their individual needs.
  • Maintain daily progress records, contributing to student assessments and reviews.
  • Ensure best practice safeguarding and prioritise student well-being.
  • Assist with personal care, therapy sessions, and daily routines as needed.
  • Supervise and engage students during breaks, educational visits, and extracurricular activities.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with teachers, therapists, and parents to provide holistic support.
  • Help with classroom organisation and preparation for a structured and engaging learning environment.

Unqualified SEN Teaching Assistant Skills & Requirements:

  • Compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting students.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a non-confrontational, non-directive way.
  • Understanding of child development, autism, and safeguarding principles.
  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade A-C or equivalent).
